Keeping Harwich International Port Moving with a Major Air Handling Unit Upgrade
Ports and ferry terminals operate around the clock, with thousands of passengers and vehicles relying on critical building services every day. Delivering HVAC projects in these environments requires careful planning, close coordination and a commitment to minimising disruption to operations.
As part of our long-standing relationship with Harwich International Port, a valued client since 2012, Adcock has successfully completed the replacement of two packaged air handling units serving the Ferry Terminal.
The project included the safe removal of the existing Trane rooftop air handling units, refrigerant recovery, modifications to the supporting steelwork and ductwork, and the installation, testing and commissioning of two new Lennox packaged air handling units serving the Embarkation Lounge and Baggage Hall. Existing uninsulated ductwork was also thermally insulated to improve energy efficiency and overall system performance.
Delivered within a fully operational ferry terminal, the works were carefully phased over a three-week program to minimise disruption while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
The successful delivery of this project was made possible through the close collaboration with our specialist supply chain partners. We'd like to thank Lennox for supplying the new packaged air handling units, Cadman Cranes for the specialist lifting operations, MFD Ductwork Installations for the ductwork modifications, and Gill Insulation for the thermal insulation works. Their expertise, combined with careful planning and coordination from the Adcock team, ensured the project was completed safely, efficiently and on programme.
