Adcock Sponsored Charity Event Raises £8,000 For Cambridge Hospice!

Sunday, May 31, 2015 | Miscellaneous

Generous businesses from across the Cambridge region came together on 7th May to take part in a fantastic golf day charity event to raise money for the Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge, raising over £8,000!

Adcock Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, a business which itself was established in Cambridge over 50 years ago, sponsored the event, which was run by the local Rotary club.

The charity golf day was held at the Gog Magog Golf Club, followed by an evening function and charity auction at the Old Hall, Queens' College, Cambridge.

24 teams of 4 took part and the overall competition was won by the Barclays Bank team. The Adcock team included Nigel Claydon, Rob Beale, Richard West and one of our sub-contractors Laurence Harris. Despite our best efforts we were beaten in the end primarily due to the pathetic performance of one of our team, but we told Richard we wouldn’t name him!

Congratulations to the winning team and our thanks goes out to everyone who took part in the day and those who generously gave their time and money to help raise much needed funds that will go towards a brand new facility being built in Cambridge.

About The Arthur Rank Hospice.

The Arthur Rank Hospice was officially opened by the Duchess of Kent on 15th October 1981 and has become a much loved and valued place of care within the community. Based in Cambridge, the hospice is dedicated to providing specialist palliative care and support to adult patients and their family, friends and carers. We chose to support this charity event as they are currently building a wonderful new facility not far from our Cambridge office. Fund raising for the facility is being supported by many local businesses and we would urge others help support this vital service.

For fundraising enquiries please contact Donna Talbot who is the Director of Fundraising at the Hospice. Donna can be contacted on 01223-723115 or you can visit their website www.arhc.org.uk.
